We put 900 people on a boat for the final event of NYC Tech Week
The final event of NYC Tech Week was the best
For the last 6 months I’ve been delighted to co-host events with Ben Schwartz and his Tavern Community. Tavern just finished their app and got it into the Apple App Store — just in time for NYC Tech Week. And the final event of the week was the launch party for the Tavern Community app.
Ben went all out, renting the biggest boat in the New York City area that can be rented for one day (there are bigger boats, but you typically have to rent them for a week or a month).
The boat is rated to carry 1,200 people. We put over 900 on board. I was thrilled to help out. And I was very pleased to see so many familiar faces, of the people I’ve gotten to know over the last several months. Though I admit, I only knew a fraction of the 900. Some of these people (the ones I didn’t know) may have come to a previous event, but I did not get to know them, and others were fresh faces who were discovering us for the first time, thanks to the cross-over marketing with Tech Week.
The Tavern Community app is off to a good start, with the best possible introduction to the world.
My next event is July 14th, but I cannot promise that it will be quite this big or exciting.
